Wooden Spoon Heirloom is the culmination of documenting my grandmother Gercina’s recipes that previously only existed within her knowing hands, her feeling, and her inner wisdom of cooking. Her recipes have been passed down sparingly over the years through an oral tradition. Now, this is a physical archive of some of the most special recipes my grandmother makes—recipes that my family has created whole traditions around.
It is an ongoing project where I'm slowly collecting recipes from my family, and most importantly my grandmother, and documenting a written record of these recipes. She is now 90 years old, so this project will ensure the longevity of the traditions we love, created with gratitude, respect, and the recognition of the gift that it is.
